Rachel Olivia, 32, discovered she had skin cancer after attempting to pop a “pimple” on her forehead. Rachel’s story went viral on TikTok, and now the young mother encourages her followers to get screened for skin cancer.
Rachel noticed a red mark forming on her forehead. At the time, a doctor said it was a pimple she had “popped too much.” However, the wound never healed.
“I left it for a year. It never healed, so I trusted my instincts and insisted on seeing specialists, who did a biopsy and confirmed it was cancer,” she told news.com.au.
The 32-year-old was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer that often develops on the face. It usually appears as a white, waxy bump or a brown, scaly patch.
After undergoing treatment with Aldara, a chemotherapy medication, the crust of the carcinoma fell off her forehead. She shared her journey with her followers, who celebrated the result.
“I won’t lie, it had its challenges. I have a baby, so I had to be very careful not to let the cream come into contact with her at night when I had to use it,” she explained.
Several followers mentioned that they scheduled skin cancer screenings because of Rachel’s story.
